Fire Safety Tips for Your Home

Small steps can make a huge difference. Here are some essentials every Rougemont household should follow.

🔔

Test Smoke Alarms Monthly

Press the test button on every smoke detector in your home once a month. Replace batteries at least once a year — or switch to 10-year sealed units for peace of mind.

🗺️

Create a Home Escape Plan

Map out two exits from every room. Practice your plan with your family twice a year so everyone knows exactly what to do when the alarm sounds.

🧯

Keep an Extinguisher Handy

Every kitchen and garage should have an ABC-rated fire extinguisher. Know the PASS technique: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.

🕐

Never Leave Cooking Unattended

Cooking fires are the #1 cause of home fires. Stay in the kitchen while frying, grilling, or broiling. Keep flammables away from the stove.
